After waiting months – no, years – for the launch of Glossier in the UK, the New York-born beauty brand has finally opened up shop to its many British fans. As of today, the likes of Boy Brow, Cloud Paint and Milky Jelly Cleanser are just a few clicks away, which leads you to the next conundrum: now that it’s all available, what should you buy?
Thanks to a friend who recently went to New York, I’ve tried a selection of products, and rounded up some speed reviews of the most Instagrammable cosmetics I own. As for what I’ll be ordering next? Easy – Body Hero Perfecting Cream, the Perfecting Skin Tint, Stretch Concealer and Super Bounce.
CLOUD PAINT (£15)
My morning routine goes like this: I wake up, shower, attack my hair with a Tangle Teezer, get dressed, and apply my makeup on the 7.10 train to work. I need products with minimal risk of spillage, and Cloud Paint ticks that box every time, as the little tube of cream blush makes mirror-free application a total breeze. Beam – a brightening apricot hue – is perfect for perking up tired skin, and you can simply dab it on with fingers to build up to your perfect level of flush.
I hesitate to call this a ‘highlighter’, because it’s unlike any I’ve tried before. Where others veil skin in shimmer or glitter, this adds a hyper-real, dewy sheen. The stick formula means you can swipe it over cheekbones, brow bones and eyelids on the go. I’ve been wearing Quartz, and it’s such a (super-subtle) saviour after a sleepless Sunday night.
BOY BROW (£14)
This is more of a ‘nice-to-have’. While it makes light work of defining your brows at speed, there are cheaper products out there that do a fairly similar job. Still, the teeny spoolie offers unrivalled control and precision, and the formula (I wear ‘Brown’) pads out sparse patches without feeling stiff or flaking.
MILKY JELLY CLEANSER (£15)
As a cleansing addict (it’s a thing), this is the product I was most excited to try – and it didn’t disappoint. Milky Jelly Cleanser has single-handedly transformed my nighttime skincare routine. If removing your makeup usually means sore eyes and foundation on your towel, smooth this jelly over dry skin, add water to lather, and everything will rinse away with ease. Best of all, skin still feels bouncy and fresh (never tight) after a double-cleanse, which is nothing short of ground-breaking when your skin is as parched as mine.
